Drifting into the shallow, azure lagoon through a gap in the house reef, the first impressions are of an island covered with coconut palms, giving rise to the name 'Kurumba'. A sharper glance will just make out the individual bungalows which alude to the islands rather man-made character. The resort feels a tad "American" in its layout and style but they have planted luxuriant vegetation and a huge orchid house to keep rooms and baths replensished each day. The gentle, warm lagoon tempts the swimmers and snorkellers, but for younger children who may need a more watchful eye, there are two attractive free- form swimming pools allowing parents to sunbathe sand free. Older children and adults will find all they desire at the Water Sports centre. Equipment and expert tuition is available for windsurfing, sailing and diving.

With six restaurants offering such varied cuisine as fresh grills, Italian specialities, Indian and Arabic temptations, Japanese sushi and authentic Chinese dishes no palate is left unsatisfied. For those who like to graze as they play the coffee shop offers delicious snacks all day long.
When the island becomes too small, sail out onto the ocean in a dhoni (traditional boat) and visit other islands of the atoll. Enjoy the local culture and crafts, picnic on the beach, then sail home against a backdrop of the most dramatic sunset you can imagine.
