Set in the heart of Sri Lanka’s Dry Zone, just outside Sigiriya, Vil Uyana is unlike most resorts in the country. Spread across 24 acres of what was once agricultural land, the property has created its own wetland ecosystem, bringing together water, paddy fields, woodland and marshland in a way that feels completely at home in the surrounding landscape.
The 36 individual villas are spread across this natural setting, including beautiful water villas inspired by the overwater retreats of the Maldives. With space, privacy and uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside, Vil Uyana offers a very different kind of luxury: one that is closely connected to nature.
Wildlife is part of everyday life here, with birds, butterflies and other creatures making the wetlands and gardens their home. And then there is that unforgettable view of Sigiriya Rock, rising above the landscape and reminding you just how extraordinary this part of Sri Lanka is.

Vil Uyana is perfectly placed for discovering Sigiriya, Dambulla and the ancient cities of Sri Lanka, but you may find that the hardest part is leaving the resort at all.

Rooms
All the rooms are superbly equipped with an endless list of essentials and thoughtful extras: - Individually controlled air conditioning, Ceiling fans, electricity at 220/240v, telephone with IDD, minibar, TV and Satellite channels, DVD and CD players, tea/coffee making facilities, safe large enough for laptops and cameras, hairdryers, Magnifying shaving mirror with lights, sarongs and sandals, iron and ironing board, umbrella, torch and bicycles. Forest Dwellings (10) are particularly spacious with large living areas and generous lounging / dining decks from which to enjoy your own private wildlife show. Luxurious bathrooms are well fitted with mirrors and lighting and a jacuzzi tub to soothe away any post - trekking aches. There is also a personal swimming pool. Paddy Field Dwellings (12) are more modest in size but include a dining deck and a plunge pool. Marsh Dwellings (5) are identical to Paddy Field Dwellings but out of 6 only 2 dwellings have plunge pools with excellent views of Sigiriya Rock. Water Chalets (4) are the same size as the Paddy Field Huts and have a large dining deck of 318 sq. ft..
