Boutique Sri Lanka (BSL)

Warwick Gardens

Perched nearly 6,000 feet above sea level, this elegant old stone house feels like a country home tucked away in the hills. Surrounded by colourful gardens filled with flowers, herbs and spices, it is a wonderfully peaceful escape from the heat and humidity of the coast.

The five bedrooms are spacious and simply furnished, each with beautiful views. There are plenty of cosy corners to curl up with a book, while the extensive library and knowledgeable host add to the wonderfully homely atmosphere.

Food is a highlight, with an experienced chef preparing fresh Sri Lankan and Western dishes using eggs, milk, fruit and vegetables sourced from the property and its gardens. Cookery lessons can also be arranged.

The area was once known as “Little England” and is perfect for exploring on foot, with waterfalls, villages, botanical gardens and excellent birdwatching nearby. For those feeling more adventurous, there is hiking, golf and mountain biking.

A peaceful mountain retreat that makes it very easy to forget about leaving.
