One of the most memorable moments comes before you’ve even checked in. As you walk into the reception, Sigiriya Rock rises dramatically in front of you, setting the scene for what lies beyond. From there, the villas are scattered across the grounds, each offering plenty of space, privacy and all the comforts you could want after a day of exploring.
The wildlife is very much part of the experience. Peacocks and birds wander freely through the grounds, while you may even spot a crocodile keeping watch in the fish pond. It feels wonderfully connected to the natural surroundings without compromising on comfort.
The villas are beautifully appointed, with spacious interiors, private pools, indulgent bathrooms and generous outdoor spaces. But for us, the real highlight is the cuisine. The food is exceptional, making it very easy to justify lingering over another meal rather than heading out to explore.
When you do venture out, Sigiriya’s restaurants and cafés are just a short drive away, while the ancient rock fortress, Dambulla and the historic cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are all within easy reach.
