Not one tree was felled in the process of building this sanctuary. Passionately committed to environmental protection, all building processes followed the strictest of green procedures and requirements. The rich vegetation that surrounds Ulugalla give testimony to the fact, as do the 1000 odd root- balled trees that were planted to give shade and added character to the natural landscape.
Bordering the two reservoirs of Ulagalla and Wannamaduwa the earth is rich and bountiful, cloaking the 20 luxury chalets that form this little sanctuary in an intimate green mantle. Complete with individual private plunge pools the luxurious chalets exude a modern tropical ambiance for the international market. 20 luxury chalets dot the wide expanse of land to give privacy and seclusion. Winding paths through leafy groves lead from one to another and to the main lobby and lounge area.
A spacious terrace and picture windows open out to the view of your choice – be it paddy field, forest or lake. A private plunge pool and a charming sun deck add the perfect touch to your own private kingdom. Modern contemporary furniture and light white fabrics complete the sense of airiness and openness. The bikes at the chalet can be your choice of transportation, but the electric buggies do provide a more comfortable, exertion free mode of getting from one place to another. You can choose to be fully cut off from the rest of civilization, blissfully lost in your new found haven, but If you want to venture forth and mingle a bit, the enormous 30 meter main pool with is fabulous setting would be a perfect place to start.

Whether haute cuisine, spicy rice and curry, or garden fresh salad, you eat what you long to eat skillfully prepared for you by the highly experienced Ulagalla Chefs. Freshly picked vegetables and fruit from its own organic gardens and orchards will delight you with their its variety and freshness. You can cycle trek your way through the vast expanse of land that forms the Ulagalla property or you can ride Sharm and Scotch – the resident horses. If you prefer a gentler pace there is a delightful pony at your service. You may also choose to kayak your way along the peaceful reservoir waters, taking in the breathtaking scenery.
Archery, chess, and practicing your golf strokes at the driving range are just a few other options. There is also a well equipped library where you can pick a book from your favorite author.
Ulagalla also offers many excursions and guided tours to popular cultural and tourist sites in the surrounding localities.
